J Donte

J Donte is a versatile vocalist, songwriter, producer, performer.

SophistaPop. Debonair. R&B/Pop music with Sophisticated musical arrangements, colorful melodies and storytelling with accompanying videos.

In the mid 90s Donte was recommended to me to sing on my corporate music projects. A rapport quickly developed with each session and one day we looked at each other and simultaneously said: "We need to write together!" He came to my studio and in 20 minutes we wrote our first song "Over" . The catalog quickly grew! Sometimes we'd meet in parking lots with music tracks, dictaphones and notebook paper to write songs.

In the early 2000s, before almost everyone had their own home studios, we were hired to write and produce for various young artists and we even had songs on the top 20 "Billboard Singles" chart! And managed to stay on the charts for 6 weeks!

During the 2020 Covid pandemic when many musicians had down time, Joey Melotti - my longtime collaborator, co-producer, co-writer and pianist, arranger, vocalist for Barry Manilow - joined us to launch a new chapter - J Donte. Looking back over 30+ years; I can say this: Donte is one of the most caring, loyal and extraordinarily gifted collaborators - and friend - I've ever known. A true Gem!
